LORAIN, OH (Jan. 23, 2009) – The Lorain Public Library System is giving library patrons and Lorain County residents three opportunities to hear about the library’s accomplishments and goals at its first State of the Library address next month.
Joanne Eldridge, director of the Lorain Public Library System, will give three talks at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 and 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26 at the Lorain Public Library System’s North Ridgeville Branch Library, 35700 Bainbridge Rd., North Ridgeville.
Eldridge will discuss what the library system accomplished and the challenges it overcame in 2008 and share some of what the library system – and the North Ridgeville Branch – has planned for patrons in 2009. Eldridge will also take questions and comments from attendees.
“In this day of transparency and disclosure when it comes to public institutions, we thought it fitting to provide as many opportunities as possible for our patrons and the community to hear first-hand how their library is doing,” Eldridge said. “The Lorain Public Library System had some challenges to overcome in 2008, but patrons will be proud to hear that overall we were able to deliver all – and in some cases more of – the services and programs they’ve come to expect from us. Plus, I think they’ll be just as proud to hear what the library system has planned for this year.”
Refreshments at each program will be provided by the Friends of the North Ridgeville Branch Library, Inc.
